I think it's shameful what the NYPD did to the OWS protesters yesterday. What the heck did they think was going to happen? OMG, revolution? Here's what pisses me off.
Many of the people complaining about OWS are my age. 30 years ago, college was affordable if your parents made a decent salary. The college I went to only cost about 5K per year. When I graduated, my student loans were about $700 dollars. I moved back with my mom when I graduated, she had a government job. I got a job two months after I graduated from college. It was a different world back then. Things weren't easy, but they were manageable. From what I'm hearing today, things aren't even manageable. Young people owe five and six figures in loans, they come back home and their parents have been laid off and they can't find jobs. All of the Union manufacturing jobs have left the US; and the only things left are in food service and retail, minimum wage jobs that are below the poverty level.
It makes me sad and it makes me angry as well. People have gotten so greedy, they don't care about anything that goes beyond their noses. They don't want to pay taxes because they feel those programs help people who aren't like them, yeah, that's what they think. The people these programs help are their neighbors, but they don't know because they don't care.
That's why this mess happened in Penn State. People were too concerned with losing their jobs than they were protecting children. They were more concerned with protecting the football program than protecting minors. Like I said, people today are too selfish, if it's not about ME ME ME, they don't care.
